2026 MiniRoos Gala Day

The MiniRoos Gala Day is almost here! Everything Mulgoa Valley FC families need to know — info sheet, rules, participating teams list, what to bring and what to expect on the day.

The MiniRoos Gala Day is almost here! 🎉

The Nepean Football Association's annual MiniRoos Gala Day is one of the highlights of the junior football calendar — a celebration of grassroots football where our youngest players get to experience the joy of a festival-style tournament. Here's everything Mulgoa Valley FC families need to know to prepare for a fantastic day on the pitch.

What Is the MiniRoos Gala Day?

The Gala Day brings together MiniRoos teams from across the Nepean district for a day of friendly, festival-style football. It's non-competitive by design — the focus is on participation, skill development and, most importantly, fun. Players get to experience multiple short matches against different clubs, making new friends and creating memories along the way.

Essential Resources for Clubs & Families

The NFA has provided the following resources for clubs to distribute through their usual communication channels. Please do not forward the original NFA email directly to your teams — instead, share these links:

What to Bring on the Day

Make sure your MiniRoos player is kitted out and ready to go:

  • ✅ Club uniform — players must be in full Mulgoa Valley FC kit
  • ✅ Shin pads — mandatory for all matches, no exceptions
  • ✅ Boots — moulded studs suitable for grass surfaces
  • ✅ Water bottle — labelled with your child's name
  • ✅ Sun protection — hat, sunscreen and a club-branded jacket for between games
  • ✅ Snacks — fruit and light snacks to keep energy levels up

What to Expect

Match Format

MiniRoos Gala Day matches are short, sharp and fun. Each team plays multiple mini-matches against different opposition throughout their allocated session. There are no league tables or trophies — the focus is entirely on enjoyment and development.

Game Leaders

While cadet referees may be present at some grounds, all teams should be prepared to game lead (self-officiate) their matches. This means a parent or coach from each team helps guide the game on the field — encouraging fair play, managing substitutions and keeping things moving.

Spectators & Marshals

Each team is asked to provide a vested Marshal to help manage supporters and spectators. This helps create a positive sideline environment where kids feel supported, not pressured. Remember: MiniRoos is about smiles, not scores.

Match Sheets

Match sheets must be completed on the day, with a registered coach and manager required to sign off. Make sure your team officials are registered and ready.

Tips for a Great Gala Day

  1. Arrive early — give yourself plenty of time to find your ground, park and get settled
  2. Check the teams list — confirm your child's team and session time before heading out
  3. Stay hydrated — July mornings can be crisp but the kids will be running hard
  4. Cheer for everyone — encourage good play from both teams, not just your own
  5. Take photos — these days go fast and the kids grow up even faster!
