Playing for Heart Health at Mulgoa Valley

Discover how the MAFACARI II study is helping Mulgoa Valley FC Masters players reduce cardiovascular risks while enjoying the beautiful game of football.

At Mulgoa Valley Football Club, we have always known that football is about more than just the final score. It is about community, camaraderie, and staying active long after our junior years have passed. That is why we are incredibly excited to spotlight the latest initiative from the Nepean Football Association: the Masters Football and Cardiovascular Risk Reduction Study, known as MAFACARI II. For many of our dedicated Masters players, this study hits close to home. We know that maintaining a high level of cardiovascular health is vital as we age, and there is no better way to stay fit than doing what we love on the pitch. The MAFACARI II study focuses specifically on how masters-level football acts as a powerful tool for cardiovascular risk reduction, providing evidence-based insights into how our favorite sport helps protect our hearts and improve our overall longevity. Participating in this study is a fantastic opportunity for our members to contribute to scientific research that directly impacts the football community. It highlights the importance of regular exercise in managing blood pressure, improving heart function, and maintaining metabolic health. Whether you are a seasoned veteran or just lacing up your boots for the first time in a few years, the benefits of playing in our Masters league extend far beyond the enjoyment of the game. We encourage all our eligible Mulgoa Valley players to engage with the NFA regarding the MAFACARI II study. By understanding how our movement on the field translates to better health outcomes, we can continue to foster a culture where health and football go hand in hand. Let’s keep moving, keep competing, and keep our hearts strong. Football at Mulgoa Valley is not just a game; it is a commitment to a healthier lifestyle for every single one of us. Join us this season, enjoy the competition, and take pride in knowing that every minute you play is a victory for your long-term health. Together, we can show that the Mulgoa Valley spirit is as healthy as it is competitive.
