Supporting Our Junior Refs With 18 Green

At Mulgoa Valley Football Club, the Black Swans family has always been built on the foundations of respect, community, and a shared love for the game. As we continue our season at the beautiful Gow Park, it is vital that we remind our players, coaches, and passionate supporters about the Nepean Football Association’s '18 Green' initiative. This important program is designed to protect and support our junior referees, who play an essential role in keeping our grassroots football thriving. You might have noticed some officials wearing green armbands during recent matches. These young individuals, many of whom are still in their formative years, are the future of our game’s officiating. The '18 Green' initiative serves as a clear visual reminder that these referees deserve our unwavering support, patience, and encouragement. Too often, young officials face undue pressure and criticism from the sidelines, which can hinder their growth and confidence. At Mulgoa Valley FC, we pride ourselves on being a welcoming and inclusive club. We urge every member of our Black Swans community to lead by example. Whether you are a player on the pitch, a coach on the sideline, or a parent cheering from the stands, please remember that these junior referees are learning just as our players are. A culture of respect not only protects these young officials but ensures they stay engaged in the sport, allowing football to continue for everyone. Let’s make Gow Park a sanctuary of positivity. When you see a referee in green, offer them the respect they deserve and shield them from negativity. By working together to foster a nurturing environment, we aren’t just following association policy—we are upholding the values that make Mulgoa Valley Football Club the special community it is. Thank you for your ongoing commitment to making the beautiful game better for every participant, young and old alike. Let’s keep the Black Swans flying high and the spirit of the game stronger than ever.
